Each pattern measures 10" with the center block at 20"

I've also decided to add the block of the Whale that I previously removed from the lineup.

The Houses from Around the World has started!

House #1

I'm looking to make something more 'traditional' from each country we visit

Today we've stopped over China

Each house measures 10" (26cm) and is available each Monday for $1.

Once the new block arrives the old one will be $3.

Block 10 = Two rows done!

Modern City Sew a Long 2024

Today we start with Block #10 that I completed

Another really easy to put together block. No real headaches.

I've joined the blocks for the second row as well

This is the first and second row with blocks 1 to 10 finished.

Im really happy with how this is turning out.

Our sew a long is going to take 25 weeks which is really slow and making 1 easy block a week is 

also going really slow. For some that's wonderful news but for others

you may want to sew on ahead which is fine with me.

Block of the Month - March

 

Hello and welcome!

It's March and we have another block in our BoM - Cute Cats

March block has a sleepy cat behind the pot plants.

The block measures 16" (42cm)

You can rescue any of the Cute Cats for $1 from my Online Shop 

in the month of the block release. Afterwards that block will be $5 the next month.

The small fee goes towards kennel fees and food for the  BoM Rescues backstage... thanks!

Block 6 and 7

 

Hello to everyone following along with our

Last week I didn't post anything about the block 6 on my blog 

(not that anyone even asked where the post was...), 

so I'm adding it here today with our Block 7

These are our blocks 6 and 7 and then sewn together to start the second row

Block 5 - Row 1 finished

 

Hello everyone!

This week we're making block #5 of our

Modern City quilt a long

This block finishes up our first row

The block measures 10,5"

After each week I've sewn the blocks together and so joining block 5 was a bit 

of a thrill - I get to see the start of the rest of the pattern.

This has been a very slow sew a long progress but still worth it!

Sew a Long Block #4

Hello and welcome to another installment of our

Modern City Sew a Long

This week we're on Block #4.

 Sewing the block was very easy and really quick too. There are no problems found in the pattern sections.

As you can see I like to press my seams to one side. It's just something I've always done. You may find the seams bulky - so press them open if you prefer.

Block #4 and then sewn to the first row we're creating.

Sew a Long Block #3

 

Hello and welcome to another installment in our

Modern City Sew a Long

Today we're on Block #3

Block measures 10,5"

As usual, I lay out the pieces I will need to make the block to get a good idea of what I need to do. Section P needed to be joined together.

  This was another really easy block to sew and then join to bloc #2.

Sew a Long Block #2

 

Hello and welcome to another installment in our

Modern City Sew a Long '24

Today we have Block #2 on the table

I always start with getting the pieces I need and placing them on the desk in their order they sit in. I think I like to see what I need to do in an overview before I start. I joined my piece that needed attention and then.......

I found piece O had a wonky corner. Its really only around 1mm out where line passing O2 to O4 need to meet in the corner and they just fell short. I took my pencil and freehand drew that line back to the corner. You don't even have to do this. you can eyeball it in a straight line when sewing it. 

I made the 2 main sections and then joined those two together.

My finished block #2. It measures 10,5" when finished.

I've joined Blocks 1 and 2 together as well. The paper is still in and I'll only tear row 1 paper out 

once row 1 and 2 are joined together.

You can already see the hazy sunset and the buildings starting to appear.
